The Boss 302 was built to homologate the Mustang for the Trans-Am series, where Ford was fighting Chevrolet and AMC. The engine was a high-revving 302 cubic inch V8 with Cleveland-style heads, and the car received a stiffened chassis, a front spoiler and a rear wing. The graphics were bold and the stance was purposeful. It was one of the best-balanced American muscle cars of the era.
