The Turbo SE was the most powerful production Esprit of its generation. Lotus revised the engine management, added a chargecooler and increased boost, and the result was 264 bhp. The body was smoother than the earlier Turbo, with body-colour bumpers and a larger rear spoiler. It could run with the established supercars of the day, and it did so with a fraction of their cylinder count.
