The 2007 GT500 brought the name back after a long absence. Ford's SVT team developed it, with a supercharged 5.4 litre V8, a solid rear axle and a body that referenced the 1967 original. It was not the most sophisticated muscle car of its time, but it had enormous straight-line performance and the correct visual cues. The Shelby badge was back on a Mustang, and buyers responded immediately.
