The Turbo transformed the Esprit's performance. A Garrett turbocharger and a revised fuel system lifted the slant-four to 210 bhp, enough to push the car to around 240 km/h. Lotus also added a bodykit, wider wheels and a rear spoiler, which gave the Esprit the visual aggression to match its new speed. It was a proper junior supercar, and it kept the company in the performance conversation through the 1980s.
