Lamborghini's 10,000 rpm V8 hybrid

The Temerario is the successor to the Huracan and the second model in Lamborghini's high-performance electrified vehicle range. It uses a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that revs to 10,000 rpm, supported by three electric motors. The combined output is 920 PS, or 677 kW. Lamborghini quotes 343 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.

This is a desk-researched ownership guide. We have not driven this model for this article. The Temerario is a new model, so there is no long-term independent failure record to quote. A buyer should focus on the hybrid system, the cooling package, the spaceframe and the evidence of how the car has been used.

The V8, the motors and the battery

The engine displaces 3995.2 cc and uses twin turbochargers in a hot-vee layout. Lamborghini says the V8 can reach 10,000 rpm, a high limit for a turbocharged road engine. The three electric motors provide additional torque and allow electric drive at low speed. The hybrid system is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The high-voltage battery and its cooling circuit are central to the ownership experience. Ask for a battery health report, a diagnostic scan and evidence that the cooling system has been serviced. The car should be tested in electric, hybrid and performance modes, with the engine both cold and warm. Any overheating warning, reduced power message or inconsistent electric drive needs investigation.

Lamborghini publishes WLTP consumption of 10.3 l/100 km and 6.4 kWh/100 km, with 14 l/100 km quoted when the battery is discharged. Those figures are useful context, not a prediction of real-world use. A car that has been tracked or repeatedly charged on a high-power charger may have different battery and cooling wear.

Aluminium spaceframe and body inspection

The Temerario uses an aluminium spaceframe. That is good for weight, but it means structural repair requires the correct equipment and procedures. Inspect the chassis legs, suspension mounting points and underbody for damage. Ask for photographs of any repair and the identity of the repairing workshop.

The body has hexagonal daytime running lights and a design that mixes sharp creases with large cooling openings. Check the panel alignment, the paint finish and the condition of the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. Stone chips and kerb damage are normal, but poor paint repairs can hide accident damage.

The optional Alleggerita package reduces weight by more than 25 kg and increases downforce by 67 percent, according to Lamborghini. If the car has that package, confirm that the aero parts are complete and correctly fitted. A missing splitter or a non-standard wing can change the car's behaviour and its warranty position.

The doors, front boot and rear engine cover should open and close correctly. Check the hinges, struts and latches. The engine bay should be clean but not freshly steam-cleaned to hide leaks. Look for oil residue around the turbochargers, the cam covers and the transmission.

Cooling, brakes and tyres

A turbocharged hybrid with a 10,000 rpm engine produces a lot of heat. The cooling package includes radiators, oil coolers and battery cooling. Inspect the front grilles for debris, the coolant level and the condition of the hoses. Ask whether the car has had any overheating or reduced-power events.

The brakes are carbon-ceramic units. Measure the discs and pads, check the fluid history and inspect the calipers for heat damage. The car's performance makes brake condition more important than cosmetic wheel condition. Confirm the correct tyre specification and check the date codes on all four corners.

The front brake cooling ducts and the underbody panels should be checked for debris and impact damage. A car that has been used on track may have heat-cycled discs and worn tyres even if the mileage is low.

Track use and heat management

The Temerario is likely to be used on circuit by some owners. Track use is not a defect, but it changes the inspection plan. Ask for post-event inspections, brake and tyre measurements, fluid changes and any bodywork repairs. Check the brake discs for cracking and the tyres for overheating.

The hybrid system adds another layer. A track session can heat the battery and the electric motors, and the car may reduce power to protect them. Ask whether the seller has experienced any derating, warning messages or charging faults. A diagnostic report should be able to show stored events.

Cabin and equipment

The cabin is more digital than the Huracan's, with a central touchscreen and a configurable driver display. Test the screen response, the climate control, the cameras and the audio. Check the seats for wear and adjustment, and confirm that the driving position suits the intended driver.

The Temerario offers a range of personalisation options, including carbon trim and contrast stitching. Confirm that the visible specification matches the build record. Aftermarket tint, wraps or electronic modifications should be disclosed and assessed for their effect on the warranty.

Warranty and ownership planning

Lamborghini's warranty and service intervals should be confirmed for the specific market. Ask about the high-voltage battery warranty, the hybrid component coverage and the requirements for extending the warranty. A car that has been modified or tracked may have different coverage.

Use a Lamborghini specialist with high-voltage training. The inspection should cover the engine, the hybrid system, the battery, the transmission, the brakes, the tyres, the structure, the aero and the electrical functions. Ask for a cold start, a full scan and a written report.

Sources and limitations

Lamborghini's official Temerario model page and brochure supply the engine, performance, battery and aerodynamic information, while the 2024 HPEV brochure provides additional context for the hybrid system. The guide makes no claim about transaction prices, future values or reliability. A factory-trained inspection and a VIN-based campaign check remain necessary.
