The Tourbillon replaces the Chiron with a decision no other modern hypercar has made: a naturally aspirated 8.3 litre V16, supported by three electric motors, for a combined 1,775 bhp. The engine revs to 9,000 rpm and the car is claimed to reach 445 km/h with the Speed Key. Bugatti has resisted the usual wing-and-fin treatment. The body is smooth and enclosed, the horseshoe grille remains, and the cabin is built around a mechanical instrument cluster assembled like a watch. Production is set at 250 cars. It is a different kind of flagship from the Chiron, less concerned with raw torque and more with the theatre of a large engine working without turbochargers. In a collection it marks the end of one era and the beginning of another.
