The Exige S1 was the Elise with a roof, more downforce and a harder edge. Lotus added a fixed rear wing, a front splitter and a revised engine cover, and the closed body made the car stiffer. The engine was the high-revving K-series, and the chassis was tuned for track work. It was not comfortable, but it was extraordinarily direct, and only 601 were built.
