Overview
This page is a catalogue summary while we rebuild it as a full ownership review. It is not yet a buying guide.
The D-Type was Jaguar's purpose-built Le Mans racer, with a monocoque chassis, a slippery aerodynamic body and a large tail fin for stability. It won the 24 Hours in 1955, 1956 and 1957, and it was one of the first racing cars to use disc brakes. The long nose and the fin gave it a shape that was both functional and beautiful. It remains one of the most important British racing cars.
