The GT500KR revived the King of the Road name for the 40th anniversary of the original. Shelby American added a cold-air intake, a revised calibration, a carbon-fibre hood and a short-throw shifter, lifting output to 540 bhp. The car was offered in a limited run and marked by unique badges and stripes. It was a more collectible, more focused version of the GT500.
