The 2000GT was Japan's first serious supercar, built with Yamaha and designed by a team that included Jiro Kawano. It was low, curvaceous and beautifully finished, with pop-up headlights and a long bonnet. The 2.0 litre straight-six was smooth and revvy, and the chassis was capable of running with contemporary European GTs. Only 337 were built, and it remains the most important Japanese classic of its era.
